In “BBX Heroes” we shine the spotlight on some of our awesome BBXers. Each time we ask the same set of 10 questions and let you tell everyone about your health and fitness journey in your own words, so that you can hopefully inspire others who may be struggling to deal with their own health and wellbeing issues, or who may just need a little bit of extra motivation as they work towards their own goals.

Q: When did you start with Bhangra Blaze/BBX?
I started with Bhangra Blaze in October 2018 through a mutual friend who was already attending Bally Bhogal’s Bhangra classes.
Q: Why did you join the class/platform?
I like to remain fairly active and believe finding time away from work is a good source of stress relief. My job is fairly demanding and Bhangra workouts allow me to relax and enjoy a social environment without thinking about work.
I joined the BBX platform when it launched earlier this year (June 2020), to help me work on maintaining my eating habits, and taking control of my cholesterol/BP level. The platform brings everything I need in one place, from monitoring key measurements and metrics such as my BP, Body Mass Indicator and weight, and being able to schedule regular exercise activities. Even better I get to take my platform with me everywhere through the BBX mobile application, even when I’m at the gym, on holiday, and whilst working in the USA.
Q: How often do you do BBX Bhangra workouts?
I use the BBX platform daily, there is no excuse for not having time as the application is available at my leisure. It’s a bit like carrying Bally Bhogal in your pocket and suddenly everything feels alive.
Q: What difference has BBX made to you physically?
BBX has really changed the way I think about exercising and eating. Logging all my eating habits was a real eye opener, as I was able to identify the split of my fat, protein and carbohydrate intake. By reducing my fat intake and increasing my protein levels, I started to see a reduction in my BP level over a 5-month period. Perseverance and self-motivation played an important role in turning around my mind-set when you see how small changes can have a positive outcome.
Q: What difference has BBX made to you mentally?
Regular exercise has helped relieve stress and improve my memory, I sleep better and it boosts my overall mood. I feel much more active since joining BBX with a regular and consistent routine.
Q: What other types of exercise do you as well as the BBX workouts?
My daily workouts include a 2-mile run 5 days a week and 30 minutes of Pilates to help build my core muscles. I also visit the gym one day a week to tone my abs, do 10 minutes of rowing and 15 minutes on the exercise bike.
Q: Which is best – BBX On-demand workouts, Virtual Classes or Live Classes? …and why?
For me personally all play a significant part due to work.
I can access the on-demand workouts no matter where I am, whichever time zone. I live in the UK, but I spend a lot of time in the USA for work, so its great that the on-demand and virtual classes are available at my fingertips.
The Live Classes are very inspiring. Not only do you have the opportunity to meet your trainer whose enthusiasm and motivation is infectious to all, but also the social surroundings really gives everyone a buzz.
Q: What do you like most about being a BBXer?
BBX has helped me to own my development at my pace by learning about good nutrition, toning and maintaining a good fitness level. Knowing you are not alone on this journey, and having the support of your instructor through the BBX messaging platform is a bonus.
Q: What are your future health and fitness goals?
My future goal is to get and stay heathier, lower my BMI and to keep the cholesterol level down. Given I like to run 5k-10k runs for charity the Pilates are an important exercise to work on my glutes.
Q: Would you be happy to recommend BBX to your family and friends?
Yes, I would definitely recommend BBX. I have used many different platforms in the past and I can honestly say this is the one that has given me the most satisfaction. No need to sign-up on multiple platforms when everything you need is available on BBX at a cost effective price.
