Summer 2024 ended with an amazing invitation for Bally Bhogal of BBX Fitness to attend Parliament as part of a special sports leader’s delegation arranged via CIMSPA (the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport & Physical Activity). The National Sector Partner Group (NSPG) hosted over 40 MPs and 100 representatives from across the sport, recreation and physical activity to spotlight sport and physical activity as part of Parliament’s mission to transform the UK.
The event, led by Kim Leadbeater MP, offered the opportunity for MPs to meet with the sector representatives to learn more about activities that are taking place within communities and to recognise their vital contribution to society, from grassroots to professional level participation. The Minister for Sport, Steph Peacock MP, as also in attendance and said:
“I’m not going to underplay the challenges we face. We are committed to rebuilding the foundations of our country and I am going to ensure that sport and physical activity is at the heart of that.”
During the event, Bally met with representatives from all sorts of sports clubs including football, netball, cricket, swimming, rugby, etc., as well as organisations such as leisure trusts, national governing bodies and active partnerships. When asked about any highlights of the day, Bally responded:
“I was honoured to be invited to Parliament as part of this delegation. It was clear that there is so much positive narrative around the benefits of sports and physical activity. Also, I was asked if I’d like to be a part of Angela Rippon’s upcoming Let’s Dance Campaign and I said yes!”
