In “BBX Heroes” we shine the spotlight on some of our awesome BBXers. Each time we ask the same set of 10 questions and let you tell everyone about your health and fitness journey in your own words, so that you can hopefully inspire others who may be struggling to deal with their own health and wellbeing issues, or who may just need a little bit of extra motivation as they work towards their own goals.
Below, we are delighted to feature one of the star organisers of the Sutton Coldfield Community Games, Becki Fitzgerald!

Q: When did you start with Bhangra Blaze/BBX?
I first joined Bally’s classes in the summer of 2017 after she joined the Sutton Coldfield Community Games – Wow 4 years!! Officially my longest commitment so a single exercise session!
Q: Why did you join the class/platform?
Laurie (my Community Games colleague) and I were looking for something a bit different that would give us a good cardio workout and BBX does just that – It’s energetic, fun and invigorating ….. and Bally always brings enthusiasm to every minute of it.
Q: How often do you do BBX Bhangra workouts?
Once a week.
Q: What difference has BBX made to you physically?
BBX gives me a great high intensity cardio workout. It was also great to do whilst I was pregnant as I could reduce the intensity of the moves as my pregnancy progressed.
Q: What difference has BBX made to you mentally?
I am a single mother of 3 young children, during the winter lockdown BBX was a lifeline mentally. BBX brought life, vibrance, motivation, energy, interaction and a much-needed friendly smile and voice during a time of isolation and loneliness – I genuinely can’t thank you enough Bally!
Q: What other types of exercise do you as well as the BBX workouts?
I run, walk and do variety of HIIT sessions, Circuits and Pilates.
Q: Which is best – BBX On-demand workouts, Virtual Classes or Live Classes? …and why?
I attend live classes 2017 – 2019 which I loved as they were energetic, friendly, interactive, fun and hard work!! And being at 8pm they worked well around childcare.
I started doing the live virtual classes in October 2020 – for me, being a single parent and lone adult in lockdown during the winter months was (as for many people) at times tough – Bally’s live sessions brought the outside world into my home and gave me the opportunity to engage with other people and exercise in an interactive environment.
Q: What do you like most about being a BBXer?
Being part of such a vibrant exercise session and the opportunity to work-out alongside a fabulous group of people. No matter what’s happened during the day, I always leave Bally’s sessions with a smile and a great feeling, knowing I’ve had a damn good workout!
Q: What are your future health and fitness goals?
To maintain a good level of fitness so I can continue to have a long active lifestyle, have good balanced mental health, and be able to keep up with my 3 girls who regularly give me the run around.
Q: Would you be happy to recommend BBX to your family and friends?
Most definitely, I have recommended Bally’s BBX sessions to many people and will continue to do so!! And of course, Bally is a much-loved partner of the Community Games!
